Students at Hillside have the opportunity to participate in our afternoon enrichment which includes an immersive experience into wonderful works of literature that pair with our History curriculum. As students bring wonderful works to life the will participate in handicrafts, poetry, music, and nature study.
About Enrichment
This year we're going to journey through some incredible times and places together. We'll begin our journey in Ancient Greece, where we'll explore the fascinating world of Greek Mythology and discover how these stories shaped one of history's greatest civilizations. Together, we'll be introduced to timeless classics like The Iliad and The Odyssey. We will learn to distinguish between myths of ancient cultures and and the truth of God's Word. Throughout our study, we'll examine these stories through a Christian worldview as we learn about the history, beliefs, art, and ideas of Ancient Greece.
Later in the year, we'll journey to Ancient China through the beautiful story Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. As we read together, we'll be introduced to Chinese folklore while exploring themes of gratitude, kindness, courage, and hope. Along the way, we'll discover the landscapes, traditions, symbols, and fascinating culture of Ancient China through hands-on projects, nature studies, and meaningful discussions that bring the story to life.
In the spring we'll head to Early America, where we'll meet legendary tall tale heroes, learn about America poetry and music, and continue discovering the people are stories that have shaped our world.
Each lesson is designed to help you grow in curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
